We're proud to have participated in the EngiQueers Canada conference as an associate sponsor. EngiQueers is an organization with the goal of promoting and advocating for the inclusion of the LGBTQ+ students in engineering schools across #Canada. Our Team had the opportunity to meet and network with many outstanding students at the Career Fair and Gala portion of this conference. We were excited to share all the work the Arcadis Pride Affinity Group is doing to promote diversity and inclusion here at Arcadis. We look forward to building upon this exciting partnership in the future. #IBelong #TogetherWithPride

Issue with LinkedIn’s “Connect” Feature 🤝Backgroud: I am currently at GHC, the largest job fair for women and LGBTQ in tech, where almost every attendees display their LinkedIn QR codes for easy connections. ⭕️Issue: The “Connect” feature inconsistently displays the option to connect when viewing a person’s profile, complicating the connection process. (see pic1 and pic2) 👀Observations: • Manually typing names or scanning QR codes results in the same connection process. • The system doesn’t differentiate between 2nd and 3rd connections in this process. There might be a possibility that users have unintentionally adjusted their settings to create these barriers, but if that's the case, it still represents a flawed design coz apparently most users prefer easy connections. Have you also found this issue frustrating? What are the thoughts of LinkedIn’s Product Manager on this? #productmanager #productdesign #linkedinissues #productimprove #linkedinteam #GHC23 #GraceHopperCelebration

I cannot emphasize enough the value of attending the Out in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (oSTEM) Annual Conference. It's not just a conference—it's a celebration of diversity, opportunity, and progress within the STEM community. Reflecting on my own journey, participating as a graduate student was transformative. It provided me with the platform to not only grow my network but also to immerse myself in professional development-oriented content, share my research through a poster presentation, and even give a talk. For a detailed glimpse into my experience last year, check out my post: https://lnkd.in/eH7-f-ic No matter where you are in your academic or professional journey—undergrad, in a transitional phase, graduate, postdoc, or even a professor—there's something tailored for you at the conference. And hey, with the event being in #Anaheim, why not couple it with a magical trip to Disney? 🌟 For more details or if you have questions, don't hesitate to reach out. Looking forward to possibly connecting with many of you there! #ostem2023 #lgbtq #dei #lgbtqia #diversityandinclusion #pride #LGBTQinSTEM #stem #careers #careerfair2023 #stemcareers #openings #creativity #personaldevelopment #selfhelp #leadership #networking #socialnetworking

Fisher MBA students have the opportunity to attend conferences to share ideas and experiences with fellow students and employers alike. These experiences are valuable, as they provide an opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. Second year MBA student Juan Ezquerra shared his experience at last week's ROMBA conference in Chicago. Years ago, I had a heartfelt conversation with my friend about my orientation. She is an out and proud lesbian who excels as a healthcare professional and the senior manager in her hospital’s department. Her dedication and skill are unquestionable, but people doubted her ability to lead with equity because of her sexuality. I wasn’t amused; this is a common theme. Many companies have teams dedicated to promoting “diversity” during the month of June—big ad campaigns and events. But let’s look at the numbers again. According to McKinsey, 5.1 percent of US women identify as LGBTQ. Of that number, only 2.3 percent are entry-level employees and 1.6 percent managers. In STEM, some universities get it right by accommodating LGBTQ students looking for job opportunities through pipeline programs and job fair events designed to help students from minority backgrounds find gainful employment. But not everyone has the opportunity to go to a highly competitive school. Not all of us even make it to college at all. Not all gay people are bringing the sparkles and rainbows 🌈 Most people are just living thier lives the way they want. Some don’t even have the right or ability or courage to do that. Imagine if you are also too Black, too female, too neurodivergent? Being a proper ally means that promoting inclusion every day, not just June, should be a priority for all. Happy Pride now and always, Christine ✨
