What’s a better place for hiring VAs? Philippines vs Colombia. You might be wondering: “Why are we only talking about the Philippines and Colombia?” Because they’re the best of the best. They're the hotspots in the world of offshore hiring. The biggest pools with tons of people ready to work. And sure, I haven’t forgotten about India or Pakistan. (That's a story for another day.) But between these two… Who's better to hire from? Both. I know, I know. Boring. But it's the honest truth. Why? Because both of them are good, just in different areas. What do I mean? Well… Philippines is known for its: Customer Service & Executive Assistant (Admin work) talent. Versus. Colombia being known for it’s: Digital Marketing & Sales. So this is what I meant. Both are good. But just in their own lanes. But, there’s another thing: Time zones. If you’re in North America, specifically the US. Someone from Colombia will have a very similar time zone. Only a few hours of gap. Where as the Philippines: 12-14 hours. Now, if you're in Australia, it’s the opposite. It’ll be only a few hours difference from the Philippines. So, it’s not black or white. Which country is better… it depends on multiple things like: - Where you are - The skills and experience you need - How well you need to communicate and a bunch of other things. So when you start hiring. Write it out. What does your perfect candidate look like? And hire accordingly.

4moI have over six years of experience in Monitoring and Evaluation, including three years with Internews Afghanistan. Since relocating to the United States last year, I have applied for several positions at Internews that align with my qualifications, but I have not been successful in securing a role. Could anyone provide insights into potential reasons for this, or suggest strategies to enhance my candidacy?
