Did you know that there are more than 1.5 million Black Canadians who represent over 300 different ethnic or cultural origins? February is Black History Month, and this year’s theme is "Black Excellence: A Heritage to Celebrate; a Future to Build." Since the early 1600’s, Black people have been on the land now known as Canada; yet Black History Month was not established until 2008. Black History Month is an opportunity to celebrate the diverse cultures, rich heritage, and countless contributions of Black Canadians, and to learn about their legacies and histories. It's a time to amplify Black voices, honour the impact of Black Canadians, and take action towards building a safer and more inclusive country. Throughout the month, we'll be sharing resources to help support your learning journey, and to celebrate Black creators. #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackExcellence #BlackHeritage #Celebrate #Honour #Remember #BlackCanadians #DEI #DiversityEquityInclusion #InclusiveKind
