📣 A new study recently explored adding biomechanical manual therapy (FM®) to the care plan for patients with residual dizziness post-vestibular rehabilitation. Preliminary results suggest this approach may enhance function and outcomes for those with 3PD, a condition often diagnosed by exclusion. Key Takeaways: 🔹 Improved Outcomes: FM® shows potential in improving function and reducing dizziness. 🔹 Deep Muscular Fascia: Aligns with research highlighting its role in motor control and perception. 🔹 Future Research: While promising, these results need further validation through rigorous studies. Amazing review to read about chronic low back pain to all of you to know the most updated treatments for patients “Exercise intervention for patients with chronic low back pain: a systematic review and network meta-analysis” * Chronic low back pain (CLBP) is a major global health issue causing disability and economic burden. Treatments for CLBP vary, with no clear evidence on the most effective approach. Exercise therapy, with its low cost and minimal harm, is a popular choice but the best regimen remains uncertain. This study aimed to assess different exercise therapies for CLBP to guide treatment decisions. * Tai chi, Pilates, sling, motor control, and core exercises improved chronic lower back pain compared to conventional rehab and no intervention. Yoga and core exercises also improved physical function. More research needed. https://lnkd.in/d9dKTmGq PMID: 38035307 #Physiotherapyupdates #RehabpowerbySF

Check out Enhanced Living community member, Ben, during a recent session with Physiotherapist, Stephanie, at our NeuroRehab clinic! In their session, Stephanie combined Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) and manual, hands-on techniques to promote muscle activation in Ben’s legs. NMES is a therapeutic tool that involves the application of electrical impulses to stimulate nerves and activate muscles. Devices consist of electrodes that are placed over targeted muscles, delivering electrical impulses that mimic signals normally sent by the nervous system. The technology utilises controlled electrical currents to contract muscles, making it an effective intervention for those experiencing compromised neuromuscular function. The benefits NMES delivers are multifaceted. It assists in restoring muscle function and strength, facilitating a faster and more effective recovery process. In stimulating muscle contractions, NMES aids in preventing muscle atrophy, maintaining muscle mass and improving muscle tone. NMES can also enhance circulation and can assist in the management of pain by triggering the release of endorphins. Additionally, NMES offers a non-invasive and customisable approach, allowing clinicians to tailor treatment plans to an individual’s needs and presentation, and to gradually increase the intensity of stimulation as individuals regain strength and function. Incorporating NMES into a therapy plan can be beneficial for individuals recovering from injuries, those living with chronic pain or those seeking to improve muscle tone and strength. Interested in how NMES and our team could assist you or a loved one in improving function or enhancing quality of life? Understanding the causation of a movement pattern control deficit is a key aspect of rehabilitation. Neurological dysregulation is not a well recognized mechanism in musculoskeletal pain, but should be considered. Primitive reflexes are common and can influence movement and motor behavior. They can be treated with specific primitive reflex inhibition techniques. https://lnkd.in/eEzQqRH6

"Erik Overcomes Debilitating Neck Pain After Severe Car Accident" Meet Erik, whose life took an unexpected turn after a car accident left him struggling with neck pain. Initially fearing a fracture, Erik found himself in a chronic cycle of discomfort, reliant on pain medications just to function. Simple tasks like walking or playing with his child became daunting challenges. At Preferred Physical Therapy, Dr. Nick offered a different plan. Instead of rushing into surgery, he suggested trying physical therapy to solve the problem. That's when Erik's journey started, bringing a ray of hope along with it. Despite trying spinal injections for temporary relief, Erik found himself back at square one. But PT offered something different. Through tailored exercises and gradual progress, Erik reclaimed his strength and mobility. What seemed like small movements at first blossomed into renewed functionality. But it wasn't just the exercises that made the difference. At PPT, Erik found a supportive community, a place where he wasn't just another patient but a valued member of a family. The atmosphere was far from a sterile doctor's office; instead, it felt like a gathering of friends on a shared journey towards wellness. Now, Erik is not just recommending PT to family and friends; he's advocating for it passionately. He encourages others to take that first step, to get evaluated and experience the transformative power of physical therapy firsthand. Erik's story is a testament to resilience and the human spirit. It's a reminder that even in the face of adversity, there's hope. And with the right support and guidance, like that offered at Preferred Physical Therapy, anything is possible. ☎️If you are like Erik, give us a call at 623-486-3333 to talk to a team member and schedule your FREE (15 Minutes) Telephone Consultation With A Physical Therapist. 🔗Want more information? At Neuro Physio Berkhamsted we treat a range of neurological conditions, including strokes. Strokes are life-threatening conditions that occur when the blood supply to part of the brain is interrupted or reduced, depriving brain tissue of oxygen and nutrients. Strokes can lead to various physical and cognitive impairments, depending on the area of the brain affected. Common side effects include paralysis or hemiparesis (muscle weakness), difficulties with speech, balance, coordination, thinking and memory. Physiotherapy plays a crucial role in the rehabilitation of stroke patients and offers a number of benefits. Stroke patients often experience difficulties walking and balance. We work on restoring movement and function in affected limbs through exercises. We work towards improving our patient’s mobility, using various techniques to improve strength, walking patterns and balance. This helps regain strength, coordination and balance. Neuro physio focuses on utilising the brain’s ability to rewire and create neural pathways which help recover lost functions. Please get in touch so that we can help you with your treatment journey. https://lnkd.in/ekY8iSHy #neurophysio #berkhamstedphysiotherapist #physiotherapy #strokesurvivor

Physiotherapist and university teacher at Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome. Clinical research in the field of new technologies in rehabilitation and musculoskeletal pathologies.
There are serious, fortunately rare, clinical conditions that can mimic more common musculoskeletal disorders. Therefore it is essential that physiotherapists consider, within their evaluation, the process through which the physiotherapist himself is able to understand whether he/she is within his/her scope of practice or whether a more or less urgent referral to a medical doctor is needed. This process is known as "Screening for Referral" and in this case report we show a clinical application that has decisively influenced the patient's diagnostic and rehabilitation process. Furthermore, the rehabilitation protocol described starts from a hands-on to a hands-off approach. This is because we believe that healing is only possible through the patient's awareness that he must receive self-efficacy tools. As often stated by Catherine Cavallaro Goodman, the true sign of awareness of professionalism is to recognize the limits of one's profession. #rehabilitation #physiotherapy #fisioterapia #riabilitazione #OMPT #IFOMPT #shoulder #pain #screening #differentialdiagnosis #diagnosis https://lnkd.in/d3VpatPC
