As May was Mental Health Awareness Month, here at Madewell we couldn’t think of a better way to promote the month than some organized exercise as a crew! We know that our mental health is heavily impacted by our physical well-being, and the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge 3.5-mile race was just what the doctor ordered! Last week, we had over 100 associates join across our organization to run or walk the course through Central Park in matching shirts designed by our very own Elie R., Anni M., Danielle Evangelista. We turned up the stakes a bit with some healthy team competitions, celebrated each other crossing the finish line, and had the opportunity to gather together in post-race celebrations. We look forward to continuing our focus on our mental and physical health year-round and already can’t wait for next year's race! #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #JPMCC #Madewell #GlobalRunningDay

The age-old advice to "take a walk outside and breathe in the fresh air" isn't just common sense—it's backed by science. The sounds, smells, and textures of nature are invaluable for our mental health. That's why it's concerning to see in the Outdoor Industry Association’s 2024 Outdoor Participation Trends Report that youth outdoor time has been steadily declining since 2012. This translates to missed opportunities for healthier bodies, calmer minds, and a deeper connection to nature. At Outside, we’re committed to reversing this trend and fostering a lifelong love of the outdoors. We can treat this as an opportunity to encourage participants of all ages and backgrounds to get outside even just one more time. Every article we write, every video we produce, and every event we host aims to ignite that spark of connection and desire to get outside. Ultimately, we want to help build a world where every person experiences the joy, the wonder, and the mental health benefits of getting outside. To join our community and tap into our content to fuel all your adventures, you can subscribe to Outside+ here: https://lnkd.in/ggkHChiB #GetOutside

I'm not a huge racing fan. I tried to get into it, couldn't do it. That said, there is a lot we can learn from how races work. If you're going to win a race, you have to make pit stops along the way. That may be the most obvious statement I've ever made. You have to refuel, change tires, or make repairs. After the split second stop (seriously, it looks split second...those guys are fast), and the car is back in good shape, the driver speeds off to continue the race. Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Awareness focus months are pit stops in the race to normalize help-seeking behavior in the workplace. They exist to highlight causes, share best practices, and equip workplaces to continue building a culture of care all year long. So now it's October. What will you do to stay in the race to keep building a caring culture the rest of the year? How ever way you answer that question, let's lean on and learn from each other as we go!

💚 On this Mental Health Awareness Week, I'm compelled to reflect on the impactful advertisement that resonated deeply with me: the Norwich City Football Club's ad for The Samaritans on #mentalhealthday last year. This subject holds immense significance for me personally, touching the core of human empathy and understanding. The ad stands as a testament to the power of simplicity in conveying a crucial message about the human experience: Individuals wrestling with internal battles frequently conceal their anguish beneath a veneer of normality. It serves as a stark reminder of the importance of empathy and compassion in our interactions with others. In a world where appearances can deceive, this ad serves as a call to action, urging us to look beyond the surface and extend our support to those who may be silently battling their demons. It captures the core values of unity and comprehension on the path to mental wellness. As we navigate the complexities of mental health, let us draw inspiration from this powerful work of art and commit ourselves to fostering a culture of empathy, acceptance, and support. Together, let's endeavour to build a world where silence is not a burden anyone bears alone, and where empathy serves as our guiding principle. 💚 #mentalhealth #checkin #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthawarenessweek #bekind #YouAreNotAlone #wellness #empathy
