Trigger Warning: Mentions of violence, sexual assault, and abuse. Knowing someone who is being abused is a heartbreaking experience. It can leave you feeling powerless to help, but there ARE ways to help survivors of violence — here are 3 we came up with: 💙 Help provide care for their pets until they can find safety. 💚 Donate personal care items and clean clothing. 💙 Donate new linens for survivors of sexual assault, as linens are often taken as evidence. For more details and to get inspired by others’ acts, check out our blog post: https://bit.ly/3OG3O88.

Not many people are aware that in 2020, when Noah and I first started pitching Wonderbelly as a concept– I wouldn't talk about the fact that its origin was heavily tied to my struggle with bulimia. Why would I bring that into a conversation with strangers on a zoom call? At that point in time, I could count on one hand the amount of people who even knew that I had ever had an eating disorder. But I couldn't shake this feeling that every time we told the story, it was missing a massive piece. And by omitting that part of the story, I was also doing a disservice to the many people who struggled and are struggling the same as I once did. I could show people how my bulimia and subsequent recovery actually led to something amazing. So, after thinking it over and talking it through with Noah, I decided my history with an eating disorder needed to be included as it's truly where the Wonderbelly story begins. So, on our next zoom call I started the story with, "When I was 15 years old, I developed bulimia." I can't understate how uncomfortable and scary that was. Telling a handful of strangers a secret that, up until that point, I had considered information that no one could know. After a doing this over a couple of calls, I started feeling foolish, embarrassed and concerned that I had made a mistake... but then I got an email. It came from a personal email address from someone who was on one of those calls. They told me that they also suffered from bulimia, and had never told anyone. They also thanked me because they had never heard someone share about it. From that point on, it was so much more than just the contextualization of Wonderbelly's beginning, it was now an obligation that I had. The impact I saw from just one person's email completely outweighed my personal insecurities, fears and doubts. Telling my story wasn't about me or Wonderbelly; it was about anyone else who might benefit from hearing that they aren't alone. I'm so honored that Wonderbelly is in a position where we can meaningfully contribute to #eatingdisorderawareness and partner with such an amazing organization like National Eating Disorders Association. It's become a huge source of pride for me and I truly hope, beyond our products, Wonderbelly can help make a positive impact in people's lives.

The use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to save lives is not a trend—it’s a necessity. AEDs are important tools for responding to sudden cardiac arrest, and it’s crucial that communities have adequate access to them. You can be a part of the impact with a gift of $2,000 to fund an AED in our community. How are you making an impact this SCA Awareness Month? #AEDsSaveLives #LifeSavingTools #FundAnAED #October https://lnkd.in/d9BERJR5

This years Global 16 Days of Activism theme is ‘Invest to prevent violence’ For a decade, through our mahi and ongoing journey with men, we have seen the investment of healing firsthand. Last year, we put the question out there to men; If She Is Not Your Rehab then who is she? They responded. ‘She is Courageous’ by Blair for Maurz These limited edition art prints we have just released, are the investment needed to prevent violence by supporting men to heal from the affects of childhood trauma and Intergenerational violence. Every dollar raised goes directly back into our mahi to ensure we can sustainably fund our work. Because the cost of violence is too high. Beyond the headlines and statistics, it is lives lost. Our mothers, sisters and children. But the small investment into preventing violence is generational, it is has the greatest return, for men, for whānau and for our communities. Statistics reveal a concerning narrative: 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime. Yet, only 17% of domestic violence shelters accommodate pets. This becomes a significant barrier, as 48% of survivors delay leaving harmful situations because they can't take their pets with them. We at LifeWise StL are proud to align ourselves with our long-standing neighbor and supporter, Nestlé Purina North America, in addressing this pressing issue. Purina's initiative, the Purple Leash Project, is devoted to ensuring that by 2025, 25% of shelters will be pet-friendly. The goal? A future where survivors and their pets can find safety, refuge, and healing, side by side. This National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, for every donation made to RedRover in support of the Purple Leash Project, Purina will match 100% of the donations, up to $200,000. Your contribution can help equip shelters with vital amenities for pets and cover veterinary expenses. Let's take a stand together, championing a future where every individual, whether on two legs or four, finds safety and support.
