The majority of UK workers lack regular career conversations according to research seen exclusively by HR magazine in 2023…….. 🔸 Only 15% of employees have regular career growth conversations 🔹 Less than one in three employees have regular one-to-ones with their manager 🔸 Just 22% have clear performance expectations and metrics 🔹 26% said they have a way to provide open and honest feedback Some interesting figures above and leaders should take on the responsibility to engage with their staff and have those conversations. However it seems that this leads to concerns from the leaders perspective: 🔹 Managers and leaders can be reluctant to have professional development conversations on multiple levels 🔸 Some managers simply don't know how to have a good development conversation, therefore they are unskilled themselves 🔹 Other managers feel that by developing the staff member they increase the risk that the employee will leave, and they will then have to recruit for the position Does your organisation have a policy and development plan in place, ensuring that career and development opportunities are being discussed throughout the business. 🌟 Navigating the Ups and Downs of HR Selections and Rejections 🌟 In the dynamic world of HR, the selection and rejection process is an inevitable part of the journey. 🔍 Selection is not just about choosing the right candidate; it's about building a team that thrives on diversity, innovation, and resilience. As HR professionals, we should always recognize the potential in entry-level candidates and be willing to give them a chance, even without experience. Bearing in mind that every great leader started somewhere and no one was born an island. It's our duty to nurture talent and provide opportunities for growth. We should embrace the journey of personal and professional development, knowing that with support and guidance, anyone and I mean anyone can rise to greatness. Together, let's create pathways for success, regardless of where someone starts. At every given time we should try to unveil the “Human” before the “Resourcer” . Every candidate deserves to be seen and heard beyond their experience or resumes. #TalentDevelopment #GiveOpportunity #RiseToGreatness #BethehumaninHR #Givecandidatewithnoexperinceachance

As a career advisor and recruiter with over 8 years of experience, I’ve observed the key reasons why candidates consider leaving their current jobs. Here are the top insights: - Lack of Recognition and Value: Employees often feel undervalued, especially when recognition is limited to times of crisis. - Poor Compensation: Fair compensation is crucial as employees seek to be properly valued for their work. - Toxic Management: More than money, employees leave due to toxic management that affects their morale. - Mental Resignation: Mental disengagement can foreshadow physical resignation, showing a loss of motivation. - Inadequate Growth Opportunities: Clear paths for career development are essential to retain talent. - Lack of Work-Life Balance: Balancing personal time and work is vital to prevent burnout and dissatisfaction. - Ineffective Counter Offers: Addressing underlying issues is key, as counter offers often miss the mark. Leaders should prioritize conducting 'Stay Interviews' regularly to proactively tackle these issues, fostering a motivated and loyal workforce. #CareerAdvice #Recruitment #EmployeeRetention #Leadership #WorkCulture #HR #EmployeeEngagement #StayInterviews

🚨 Ghosting Candidates: A Serious Problem in HR 🚨 If you’re in HR and find yourself ghosting candidates—it’s time to rethink your role. It’s hard to deliver feedback, but that’s what being in HR requires: Courage. Accountability. Compassion. Ignoring candidates, or “ghosting,” isn’t just unprofessional; it damages your organization’s reputation. It takes a few minutes to send an email or make a phone call. The impact? Massive. Not giving feedback reflects poorly on you, your company, and our profession. If you’re not willing to have tough conversations, provide feedback, or show basic respect for someone’s time, HR might not be the right place for you. HR isn’t just about hiring; it’s about people. We owe it to candidates to be honest, direct, and respectful. Let’s raise the bar for our profession. If you can’t offer that basic courtesy, someone else will. #HRLeadership #FeedbackMatters #StopGhosting #Respect #HRProfession #LeadershipCourage #PeopleFirst
