BIG boost for Illinois to become the nation's quantum hub as Gov. JB Pritzker and Intersect Illinois announced the launch of the Quantum Proving Ground in collaboration with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). This collaboration represents a major investment from DARPA and its federal partners, matched by the State of Illinois, over the next five years to test and evaluate quantum computing. DARPA has a proven history of making crucial early investments in cutting-edge technologies at the earliest stages, such as the internet. Quantum is the next major shift in computing — exponentially faster and far more secure than current technology — which can accelerate drug discovery and biopharmaceutical cures for diseases.
