Oklahoma is the 5th hungriest state in the country with 14.5% of Oklahomans experiencing food insecurity and 67% of SNAP recipients being children, elderly, or disabled. When children are unsure of their next meal, they can’t focus on school or maintaining healthy behaviors, including routine dental care. Addressing access to food can be a new pathway for bridging access to oral health resources and education for our state’s children. Today, we want to highlight the organizations around Oklahoma working to connect children and their communities to food resources. When kids don’t have to worry about food, they can focus on school and maintaining healthy behaviors. https://buff.ly/42GVJ9S https://buff.ly/3vJVNVx

How are we doing today? It's a thankful Thursday again, and this week, we are focusing on a serious and important issue — Overdose awareness. We are deeply grateful for the resilience of survivors and the tireless efforts of those dedicated to prevention and support. We need to take a moment to appreciate the progress in increasing awareness, reducing stigma, and saving lives. We're grateful for every open-hearted conversation, each inspiring story, and the support that fosters recovery and hope. By continuing to educate, support, and care, we can help turn the tide against overdose. Let's keep making a difference, offering understanding, and spreading hope to those impacted. While crucial for low-income families, WIC's procurement practices may inadvertently drive up formula prices for others. Reform is needed to ensure market resilience and equitable access to infant nutrition. The Federal Trade Commission’s report on the infant formula market highlights how programs like WIC contribute to market concentration, posing risks of supply disruptions. Despite WIC's cost-effectiveness and positive impact on low-income families, there are unintended consequences. Awareness days play a crucial role in highlighting important causes and bringing communities together throughout the year. At Baby Central, we believe in the power of these days to educate, inspire, and drive positive change. While Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate Awareness and Prevention Month is observed in America, it is a cause that is very close to our hearts. That’s why we work closely with Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA) by supplying them with speciality feeding bottles from Dr Brown’s. These bottles are uniquely designed to manage complex oral feeding challenges. If you need any further advice or information, CLAPA's Parent & Peer Supporters are trained volunteers who can help you talk through any problems, worries or questions you have about cleft lip and palate. #AwarenessMatters #CleftLipAndPalate #SupportAndAwareness

For more than 25 years, Death with Dignity has led the fight for legislation that will give people with terminal illnesses in the U.S. more control over how they die. We teamed up with the design cooperative Ruca to develop a website for the nonprofit where advocates, political officials, researchers, and families and patients could learn more about end-of-life advocacy and policy reform. Site visitors can see customized information about Death with Dignity reform in their state, including pending bills, relevant real-life stories of people affected by terminal illnesses, and a timeline of end-of-life policy action. To create that interactive module, our team integrated a “whip count feature" using the OpenStates API to access state-specific legislator and representative information, combined with Google API to provide necessary longitude and latitude data from user addresses. Explore the site, which launched last year, and learn more about the cause, at https://lnkd.in/ebhgYkru.
