I'm delighted to announce my upcoming presentation at #CISBAT 2023 I am presenting a poster on "Parametric Integration of CFD-based Wind Pressure Coefficients into Building Energy Models: A Novel Workflow." This research was conducted at the Environmental Performance and Design Lab (EPDL) under the guidance of Prof. Jonathan Natanian and 1. Uncovers the critical importance of factoring in local wind conditions when simulating the energy performance of mixed-mode ventilated buildings. 2. Introduces an innovative Rhino-GH workflow with custom-scripted components, enabling the seamless integration of local wind data from Eddy3D into building energy models generated with Ladybug Tools.

What causes impaired paretic propulsive forces post-stroke? Dr. Awad at Boston University examined if impaired propulsion is due to force-generating capacity, reduced central drive, or a combination of both. The most considerable propulsion impairments were found in people with the lowest central drive and slower gait speeds. No independent relationship was found between paretic propulsion and strength capacity, further defining the influence of the central drive of plantar flexors. The lowest levels of paretic propulsion were associated with a slow walking speed independent of central drive levels. Despite the critical role of central drive and the resulting propulsive force, participants with low central drive could ambulate at similarly fast speeds as those with near-normal central drive via increased reliance on non-paretic limb propulsion. The consequence of increased non-paretic limb propulsion, however, is a higher energy cost of walking.

The Bernoulli Principle, named after Swiss scientist Daniel Bernoulli, states that as the speed of a fluid (liquid or gas) increases, its pressure decreases. This principle is fundamental in fluid dynamics and explains phenomena such as lift in airplane wings, where faster-moving air above the wing creates lower pressure, resulting in upward lift. It plays a role in various applications, from carburetors in engines to the dynamics of #blood #flow in #arteries.
