PRT thanks everyone involved in today's successful rescue exercise on the Mon Incline. During the drill, crews "rescued" five people "stuck" inside one of the incline cars after it had come to a sudden and rough stop. As part of the scenario, maintainers were not able to bring the car back to the station. Pittsburgh EMS crews had to use specialized gear to climb to the car and perform rescue operations. PRT thanks the public for their patience since the Mon Incline had to be shut down for several hours so crews could practice the rescue plan. #training #rescueplan #publictransit #monincline #prt

#PetzlTips- Drop loop haul on the MAESTRO for urgent rescue. In certain cases of extreme urgency requiring a very rapid response, the rescuer can access the victim by descending on one rope. Once the emergency has been addressed, upward evacuation can be done at a "normal" level of safety with two ropes. Make sure the rope is installed in the right direction; always test to verify the rope locks in the device before putting your weight on the device. #rescuers #rescue

Health and Safety Leader | Chartered Engineer | Energy Transition Facilitator | Offshore Operations | Security & Resilience | Aviation Safety | Mentor | Board Member - SPE Aberdeen!
Yesterday morning I awoke to the shocking pictures and video showing the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore. The vulnerability of structures to impact loads was laid starkly before us in this tragedy which is assumed to have taken six lives. The increase in size of container ships in the last 50 years is mirrored with offshore installation supply boats where impact energies have the potential to be significant. In offshore energies this increase in risk has been known for some time and is managed effectively using a suite of industry standards, training and documentation, from Offshore Energies UK Ship / Installation Collision Risk Avoidance guidance currently being refreshed in collaboration with Marine Safety Forum, Step Change in Safety Marine Operations: 500m safety zone guidelines, and OPITO global training standards on Safety zones. Nevertheless learning from other incidents outside of our sector remains important and encourages our continued vigilance. #baltimore #francisscottkey #bridgecollapse #marinesafety #safetyzones #collisionavoidance #collisionriskmanagement #collisionriskavoidance #crossindustrylearning #incidentinvestigation

SB Rescue Sling Casualty recovery Product Code # SOS-5604 • The SB Body Recovery System is designed to retrieve bodies floating on or just below the surface. • The system is most efficient when slow forward movement allows the bag to stream out and so not obstruct the mouth. • From on board the movement may be obtained by careful use of the vessel’s engines to give headway. From a river bank, or similar, walking or use of the current will have the desired effect. 1. From the feet or from the head, as is most appropriate, guide the SB Body Bag so as to fully capture the body. 2. Pull on the line to release the bag from the frame. 3. Push on the frame to tighten the drawcord and close the mouth of the bag. 4. Remove the frame.
