Equality at all levels is empowerment

Today, on the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia, we gather to reaffirm our commitment to respect the inherent human rights and dignity of LGBTQI individuals. It is imperative that we recognize and uphold the fundamental principle that all human beings are born free and equal, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression. Equality or equity. What does it mean to be equal or what takes to drive equity among diverse voices and stakeholders? More importantly, how to be aware of unconscious bias that influences research, policies and narratives. Systems thinking helped me become aware of multiplicity and intersectionality of narratives and diversity of positions and perspectives. Taking some time out to study the GBA Plus tool (Gender-Based Analysis) by the Government of Canada has been important in understanding intersectionality and equity goes beyond gender and sex. #peopleandculture #intersectionality #inclusion #research #policyplanning #humanresources
