Women’s rights. Women’s empowerment. Equal rights. These are just a few phrases you might hear if you asked someone what gender equality means to them. For young women and girls across the world the answer is simple. They want to see equal rights for women and men. This International Women’s Day, join all of us at ChildFund Australia in celebrating the new generation of young women and girls who are raising their voices to create a more equal and inclusive world. – Margaret Sheehan, CEO #internationalwomensday2024 #internationalwomensday #iwd2024

International Women's Month Commemoration "Gender Equality and Transfomative Education" I had the privilege of engaging in a meaningful conversation with a group of youths about the importance of gender equality and its impact on our society. The experience was not only enlightening but also inspiring, as it highlighted the power of dialogue, education, and advocacy in shaping attitudes and driving positive change. The experience in providing advice on gender equality reinforced the belief that change begins with education, awareness, and open dialogue. By encouraging critical thinking, challenging ingrained biases, and fostering empathy and understanding, we can create a more just, diverse, and inclusive society where individuals of all genders are valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential. #genderequality #transformativeeducation #youth #SDGs #Agenda2063

Universidad del Valle de México's (UVM) Center for Public Opinion released a study titled "Women: Perspective on Rights, Justice, and Violence in Mexico." The study examines both progress and persistent challenges toward gender equality, revealing that although 70% of participants acknowledge the contribution of feminist movements in raising awareness and influencing government action, there remains a significant disparity in rights and opportunities between genders. The study shows mixed views on gender equality: 55% of participants see equal rights for men and women, and 60% believe Mexico lacks equal opportunities—a sentiment more common among women (74%) than men (46%). Social media is deemed crucial by 78% for highlighting injustices, underscoring its impact on women's rights advocacy. I am really pleased to see this paper published. It provides further insights into how resistance to gender equality looks and sounds in STEMM organisations with data drawn from interviews with 20 STEMM leaders from industry, government and higher education. Thanks to the great colleagues who have worked on this project. #genderequality #resistance #STEMM #womeninSTEMM

Ahead of #IWD, we're reflecting on what the #EU is doing to advance gender equality globally...🤔 The #GAPIII is an ambitious policy, but does its impact measure up? Last year, at the midpoint of GAP III, we examined its implementation in three local contexts: Morocco, the Philippines, and Kenya. 🔎 Our research found that common challenges that persisted across all three of the case studies. To overcome these challenges and maximise GAP III's impact, a truly gender-transformative & intersectional approach is needed! 💪 This means: 🤝 High-level political support for #genderequality 🗣️ Meaningful dialogue with women's rights orgs 📈 #Gender mainstreaming in EU #externalaction 👀 https://lnkd.in/eda5KGzX

"Gender and Intersectionality" course was held online at the University of Iceland, which focused on examining the perspective of gender influenced by religion, culture, social class, race and nationality. In addition, protest movements such as feminism and womanism were discussed in adjusting the presence of women in patriarchal societies. The specific terms known in gender were discussed and how the increasing changes in its acceptance were taking place. It was an excellent course with very interesting and important topics taught by the University of Iceland and The Gender Equality Studies and Training program GRÓ GEST. #Mehraneh_kouch_Peydeh #Gender_and_Intersectionality #Univetsity_of_Iceland #GRO_GEST
