Every word is true. Being a new patient in a new facility, and facing new challenges, what patient wouldn't want to be reassured upon arrival about what to expect for the moments, weeks and months ahead? I know what it is like embarking on the unknown. I know the fear and anxiety that accompanies new adventures etc. etc. I try to put myself in the patients' shoes; therefore, showing compassion, empathy, support, love and reassurance comes automatically in my position. I have been told many times, that I was made for this position. I must say that it does take a "special" person to work the front desk in any organization.
