The Elongated Cushion🤍 A variation of the traditional cushion-cut diamond that has a more extended length-to-width ratio, giving it a more rectangular or oval appearance. ✨ The cushion cut is characterised by its rectangular shape with rounded corners, resembling a pillow or cushion, hence the name. In an elongated cushion diamond, the length is more pronounced compared to the width, creating a more stretched-out silhouette. Does adding color to the dial make watches more expensive? There are many aspects that can affect the cost of producing a mechanical watch—the case material and construction, for example, or the complexity of the caliber within. While it is true that more complex dials require more rounds of prototyping to perfect, it will not inevitably lead to a higher price. At NOMOS Glashütte, our colorful watches come at the same price point as the equivalent white silver-plated versions. Patek Philippe is one of the unique watch manufacturers and that is why I proposed a design exercise on the theme of skeleton watches with the name of this brand. The theme of the design was erosion. The body of the watch and the dial give the impression that they are falling apart into small pieces and eroding. The pattern is created from a microscopic view of metal erosion and magnified 10,000 times and then modified in photoshop to create a unique structure. This solution adds another dimension and accentuates the design of the watch.

UNIQUE BY NAME, UNIQUE BY DNA! The Darkmoon collection by U-BOAT is enriched with a new specimen that has made its uniqueness its own name. A watch that seems to emerge from the depths of the sea, from unexplored abysses, from places forgotten over time. Always fascinated by vintage objects, with a story to tell and shaped by time, Italo Fontana, designer of U-BOAT, decides to apply this passion of his to the Darkmoon collection, creating a one-of-a-kind 44mm watch: Unico! A bridge between the past and the future, a numbered edition watch that plays with modernity and the stylistic elements of the past. A highly individual creation, a testament to craftsmanship and "handmade," since each piece will always be different from the others. Characterized by a bronze PVD steel case, Unico has received a special manual treatment with various overlapped acids, in order to create an oxidized and antiqued effect that also involved the dial under the high-quality anti-reflective domed sapphire glass. The case is then completely filled with an oil bath, according to the innovative Oil Immersion concept, combined with the compensating bubble and the also domed dial, with black numbers and indices, amplifying the three-dimensional visual effect on the latter and the imperfections, always different, given by oxidation and which make each watch "one of a kind." #watchesandwonders #uboatwatch #darkmoon #italofontana

A paragon of visual balance and legibility, the perpetual calendar model bearing Reference 5320 was designed in 2017 in a white gold case with a cream-lacquered dial. Its vintage style is reinterpreted in a new white gold version fitted with a gilded opaline rose gold dial. The calendar displays are arranged in the characteristic manner of Patek Philippe perpetual calendar watches since 1941, with a twin in-line day/month aperture at 12 o’clock and a date indicated by a hand surrounding a moon-phase aperture at 6 o’clock. These are complemented by two round apertures: one for the day/night indication between 7 and 8 o’clock; and the other for the leap-year cycle between 4 and 5 o’clock — both of which are useful to adjust the calendar.
