Interesting move of Canal+ taking stake in Viaplay. If both parties smartly integrate their propositions, I see increased potential to gain share in the crowded Dutch streaming market. I share my thoughts on this in the below FD article. #streamingwars https://lnkd.in/eNBz2itJ

📺 Video streaming is evolving, with integration into production becoming more efficient. ⚽Live events like sports and TV demand high quality, reliability, and minimal latency. 📱Lagging on your latency is really not done anymore in 2024 for any serious OTT provider. 📡Obviously low latency is also crucial for contribution. This session with JWP (JW Player) in Eindhoven explores solutions and their performance. This evening I'm driving to LAB-1 at the Keizersgracht 19 in Eindhoven to attend the event https://lnkd.in/eampY5f9. The following agenda is planned; - Peter Bruggink from Media-Anywhere: Discussing Subframe Latency Web Streaming technology as an alternative to ST 2110. - Erik Buitinga from NPO: Addressing Low Latency Streaming for live subtitling. - Andy Wilson from M2A Media: Orchestrating live streaming events for a global audience. - Jeroen Elfferich from Livery Video: Presenting a different approach to live streaming. - Marco van de Veen from JWP (JW Player) : Mastering Live Event Workflows in OTT Apps Looking forward meeting some of you and listening to your inputs! Also looking forward seeing familiar faces!

Sony Pictures Entertainment (#SPE) CEO Tony Vinciquerra has stated that anime streaming service Crunchyroll will be the primary growth driver for the company over the next few years. The company, known for its movies, games, and music businesses, is also an anime powerhouse with Aniplex and Crunchyroll , which have 13 million subscribers globally. The anime market is expected to double to US$60 billion by 2030, with #Crunchyroll expanding in #SoutheastAsia and India through #Amazon Channels. #Sony does not have a general entertainment streaming service and believes its status as an independent content provider is a strength as technological change roils the industry. Sony is also interested in acquiring the assets of US media company Paramount Global to boost its franchise roster. Vinciquerra stated that Sony's strategy is to have more IP, more product, and more library to sell. The company scrapped a planned merger with India's Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited in January, which would have created a US$10 billion business.
