Before Dad passed we promised him we would continue to raise awareness and funds in support of Parkinson's UK and Telford & Wrekin Parkinson's Support Group
Two years ago on 19th April 2021 we completed our #50 miles in 50 days challenge for #parkinsonsuk. A special day for us as 52 years to the day - Mum and Dad were married. Now time for our next challenge!
This year we will be completing the South Coast 100km ultra challenge over the 2nd and 3rd September, to raise more money for Parkinson's UK in memory of our Dad.
When we were young we lived in the area where we will be walking, this was our home for about seven years, so it’s seems a perfect place for this challenge.
For our Dad 🥰💙
Parkinson's is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world, and currently there is no cure.
1 in 37 people alive today in the UK will be diagnosed with Parkinson's in their lifetime.
Estimates show that around 145,000 people live with a Parkinson's diagnosis in the UK in 2020.
Broken down within the UK, for 2020, that's:
England: 121,000
Scotland: 12,400
Wales: 7,600
Northern Ireland: 3,900
With population growth and ageing, this is likely to increase by a fifth, to around 172,000 people in the UK, by 2030.
Every hour, 2 more people are diagnosed. That's the same as 18,000 people every year. Parkinson’s Disease is one of the cruellest incurable conditions to live with for the sufferer and their families
