With aid budgets stretched, minimum response has become the new norm. In an attempt to balance cost, reach and sustainability, what happens to quality? “We work with people at the darkest times of their lives. We work in disorder and chaos. We work where we are targets. Why do we make it so difficult for ourselves by competing with each other? “We need to keep the intent to meet and exceed minimum standards. We need to work together. We need to get fit for purpose.” William Anderson, Executive Director of Sphere, speaks during the Ignite panel at #GSCMeeting24

A great example from Pakistan of the versatility and usefulness of Sphere training in different contexts.
Concluded a two day training on 'Quality and Accountability to Affected Population' with a focus on Sphere Standards and the foundation chapter Core Humanitarian Standard CHS Alliance with local NGOs in the backdrop of beautiful Skardu, Pakistan. It was quite overwhelming for the local NGOs since their project are mostly based on development interventions and some of them were introduced to it for the very first time. However, the trick is to keep on linking the minimum standards and the actions to their development interventions as well. e.g. You run schools - what about the protection principles? how are you applying them within those interventions? are the WASH facilities as per the minimum standards? You can take guidance from the companion standard Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) Absolutely love it when the💡 goes on!! #trainer #training #workshop #capacitybuilding #Pakistan #AAP #AccountabilityToAffectedPeople
