The East West Rail Upgrade is a large railway project that is aiming to deliver much needed connections for transport between communities by upgrading routes between Oxford and Cambridge. This area contributes around £111 billion to the UK national economy each year, and by providing an improved rail service connecting the important hotspots in the area, the upgrade programme will provide easier than ever opportunities to commute to work and for days out with family and friends. 💡 Discover how the Rail BI platform powered the initial cost estimation and scenario analysis activities that helped to determine the viability of this major upgrade. 📚 Read our full article here: https://lnkd.in/ehR7YmbH #BusinessIntelligence #DataAnalytics #TechTrends #DigitalTransformation #RailBI #datadriveninsights #assetmanagement #costestimation #businessplanning

🚄🌐 An ultra-high-speed ground transportation (UHSGT) system could soon link three major cities in the Pacific Northwest, drastically reducing travel times between Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver. RSG, in partnership with STV, has been integral to helping to shape this future. Through our team's independent, unbiased analysis of three prior feasibility studies, we've delivered a better understanding of the trade-offs between cost, speed, ridership, and level of service to project stakeholders. To learn more about this work and how our team collaborated to deliver solutions, check out STV's recent article on this project: https://lnkd.in/ewHz53Dm You can also read RSG's case study by clicking here: https://lnkd.in/gMU4bd_E #TransportationPlanning #Data #Research

THE FOURTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION (4IR), INVESTING AND FIXING AMERICA’S INFRASTRUCTURE IS CRUCIAL FOR MAINTAINING COMPETITIVENESS IN THE 21st CENTURY. UPGRADING THE US INFRASTRUCTURE M. THE LOOMING PROBLEMS CREATED BY THE AGING PUBLIC TRASIT INFRASTRUCTURE (PTI) IN THE US ARE GROWING AND MUST BE ADDRESSED ASAP; In the recent #ASCE_2021_Report_Card the #Public_Transit_Infrastructure earned a grade of D- PTI is essential to everyday living in communities across the country, providing access to jobs, schools, shopping, healthcare, and other services while enabling equitable access and sustainable mobility options. Unfortunately, 45% of Americans have no access to transit. Over a 10-year period across the country, 19% of #transit_vehicles, and 6% of fixed guideway elements like tracks and tunnels were rated in “poor” condition. Currently, there is a $176 billion transit backlog, a deficit that is expected to grow to more than $270 billion through 2029. Failure to address the transit revenue shortfall caused by the Pandemic Conditions and there after, will only exacerbate ridership declines as service cuts mean that trip delays and reliability issues become more frequent. This stands to increase congestion, hamper the economy, and worsen air quality in the coming years. Raising the ASCE’s grade for Public Transit Infrastructure (PTI) over the next decade will require a multifaceted approach. Here are some proactive steps that can be taken ASAP to address the D- grade: 1. Increase funding for #public_transit projects to repair and modernize aging systems, expand services, and build new infrastructure. 2. Implement modern technology like #real_time_tracking, contactless payments, and efficient scheduling to enhance the user experience. 3. Prioritize regular maintenance and repairs to prevent breakdowns and service interruptions. 4. Make public transit more accessible with ramps, elevators, and other accommodations for people with disabilities. 5. Expand transit networks to cover underserved areas and reduce congestion in urban centers. 6. Foster partnerships between government agencies, private sector, and community groups to optimize resources and expertise. 7. Improve safety and security on transit systems to increase ridership confidence. 8. Educate the public on the benefits of public transit transportation systems. 9 Develop comprehensive, long-term plans for public transit that consider future growth and changing transportation needs. This is an infrastructure hardware management problem that can’t be fixed with AI softwares. This Post is related to the subject matter as presented above.
