I listened to an incredibly interesting talk today organised by Revo - Retail. Property. Community. about creating spaces for girls and women. So many take away and learnings - I’m very excited to explore some further. So seldom do we take gender into account when it comes to spaces to dwell. But the fact of the matter is that woman and girls simply feel safe and comfortable in different style spaces to men and boys. An example: 💁🏻♀️prefer sitting facing one another, whereas 🙋🏼♂️ like sitting next to one another. 💁🏻♀️ look for covered space but with clear lines of sight for safety 🙋🏼♂️are less concerned about the elements (these are based on research so undoubtably there are a percentage of people who do not fall into this generalisation) Why then are most of the benches available on the market forward facing rather than inward or curved? Another: building skate parks for teens doesn’t serve teenage girls - sadly they tend to be too self conscious to attempt to take part for fear of being ridiculed. So so bummed to hear about the closing of Women Who Code and Girls in Tech, Inc. 💔

First of all Thank You so much for all the support yesterday 💙 💙 💙 We secured 2d place, and this won't be possible without you!!! Many of you have asked me today what are the real results of the launch 👇 Now it's time to give back to the community. Here are my quick thoughts: Results: 1. 807 upvotes 2. 680 website visits (more upvotes than visits 😂 ) 3. 68 signups Learnings: 1. Having a group of friends/colleagues who will boost your upvotes in the first few hours helps a lot. 2. Engage with the PH community before the launch, to get help later. 3. There are tons of bots and frauds who offer you upvotes for money. I got like 15 in-mails offering 1st place for cash. If you feel like someone is using bots, reach out to the PH support team and ask them to investigate. My final thoughts: Product Hunt has changed, and the number of startups that launch are 10x compared to 5 years ago. It's not a magic pill to make your product viral. If you launch for the first time - lower your expectations. Just have fun, and enjoy the ride. 🚀
