The Aspen Institute Energy & Environment Program (EEP) has announced the launch of the End Plastic Pollution International Collaborative (EPPIC) Grant Program with the first request for proposals (RFPs) to support EPPIC’s mission to galvanize global action to significantly reduce #plasticpollution and advance solutions to eliminate plastic waste across the plastic cycle. EPPIC will provide financial resources to in-country projects focused on interventions to end plastic pollution in Costa Rica and Guatemala. We’re excited to announce The Aspen-Kern Program on Leadership and Character in Higher Education, a new initiative designed to support and enhance the leadership of new college presidents. At a time when leadership in and the purposes of higher education are unusually contentious, this program aims to emphasize the non-technical aspects of undergraduate education, including the ability to think critically, engage in civil, challenging, and creative dialogue, and foster individual character that contributes to democratic citizenship and human flourishing. The Program will feature a seminar-based fellowship for presidents of four-year institutions within their first three years in office, personalized coaching with distinguished college presidents and other executives, support for on-campus initiatives, and thought leadership for new ways of conceiving and articulating the purposes of higher education. The program builds upon the Aspen Institute’s extensive work in leadership development and higher education and connects its communities with the powerful work and networks of the Kern Family Foundation.
