Innovation Manager | The App Solutions | Assisting healthtech companies in discovering innovative solutions to enhance their tech teams
Optimism, financial resiliency, and efficiency… Are the 3 takeaways on AI in the revenue cycle by Beckers. During the 8th Annual Becker's Health IT + Digital Health + RCM Meeting, Bradford Kuntscher (BK) from Iodine Software spoke about AI's role in healthcare. Here are the key insights: 1️⃣ AI in healthcare can streamline financial resiliency and internal teams. BK: "In the revenue cycle's middle, that's where the action is. Our goal is to have a 10-person team function like they're 30. We're not about replacing staff, but empowering them." 2️⃣ Healthcare groups should scrutinize tech companies before partnering. BK: "Grill them on the tough stuff: Their results, client base, and model maturity. This stuff takes time. We've spent a decade reaching this point. There's no quick fix, so ask those hard questions." 3️⃣ #AI needs strategic implementation in the revenue cycle for peak efficiency and resource optimization. BK: "Those in this room spreading your tech to the revenue cycle's front and back end — that's the straightforward part. Scheduling, registration, billing, claims — you can handle this in-house or with basic rules. But AI's real value lies in the more complex clinical areas of the revenue cycle." Found this insightful? In an ideal scenario, a hospital’s patient flow would be fully optimized — but this ideal state is hard to achieve. Demand is highly variable, patient arrival and departure times are unpredictable, and staff may not always have access to accurate, real-time data. By implementing AI technology, health systems have the opportunity to empower staff with predictive insights and workflow automation to drive proactive coordination and take a first step toward making fully optimized patient flow a reality. 🤖 Our VP of Client Services, Inpatient Flow, Jason Harber offers a look into the key areas where AI can unlock inpatient flow on our blog.
