What it’s like to work here

The three best things about working at Nestlé are 1) lots of opportunities, 2) you get to grow and develop as a person, 3) the big network around the globe, 4) yes, I need a 4th one! The social clubs we have at the office as they help create a great community.

What it’s like to grow here

With my 16 years in Nestlé, I went from Customer Service to Logistics and Materials Handling to Supply Planning to Demand Planning and now to my current position, which is a combined Nordic DSP role, still within Supply Chain and Operations. It has mostly been my line managers initiating the moves when they have seen upcoming opportunities, which they thought would fit my career journey. Also, I have a great mentor, who I look up to and consult with and with whom I share thoughts around potential new roles. Also, I am surrounded by great and talented people in my life: colleagues, family, and friends, and they have always shown me their support and cheered me on. In addition, there is a culture in our office, where we work a lot with feedback, strengths and weaknesses, and recognition for individuals and the team. This helps a lot if you want to develop as a person and have the courage to take on a new role, even when you are happy where you are.

The impact you can have here

Working at Nestlé, you are given the opportunity to be creative and initiate ideas of how to improve the work that we do and not just to ‘do the work’. It is important to have fun while doing the work – and do it with a healthy and happy mindset. I’m a proud ambassador and part of a group that we call NCouragers here at Nestlé. As a part of this group, I get to inspire my colleagues in many ways because the purpose of this programme is to ensure employees’ health and happiness by implementing and running social, physical and mental health initiatives and activities at work. If you ask me, this is pretty cool! I love being a team player and I have a strong vision of continuing to make a positive impact on people around me – both at work and outside of work - and through the job that I do, I want to be a force for good. Right now, I am living that mission in my current position, while being surrounded by talented people who inspire me and working with good food that make people happy. I work with our exciting category ‘Plant-based Meal Solutions’ which goes under the local name ‘Hälsans Kök‘ here in the Nordics. These products are great, and they are helping us take steps towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future. And waking up and going to work to take these steps, makes me proud. Proud that I, as a part of the supply chain in one of the world’s largest FMCG companies, can contribute with my work to make the world a better place. This is what still motivates me after all these years: To come to work every day and make a difference!

My best career advice

Find your drive and passion and take the time to reflect upon what is important to you and what motivates you. For me personally, I get this from people around me; people I look up to, and from events I have been experiencing (good and bad), journeys I have been on and destinations I have visited. Most important for me are my values and staying true to myself. Sometimes, I get inspiration from motivational quotes I come across. The one I have in mind after sharing this testimonial is: "The past is your lesson. The present is your gift. The future is your motivation."
