📢 Get ready for an important update to the Android FIDO2 API, designed to enhance security. → https://goo.gle/47UJ8CB In 2019, we introduced the FIDO2 API with SafetyNet attestation. As we’re deprecating the SafetyNet API, we’re transitioning the FIDO2 API to a new attestation scheme based on hardware-backed key attestation for increased security. To ensure a smooth transition, we encourage you to opt in to this new scheme starting November 2024. This allows for testing and incremental rollouts. In early April 2025, we will switch to hardware-backed key attestation by default for all developers, and SafetyNet certificates will no longer be granted. For more details and instructions on how to prepare for this change, check out the blog post. 🔐

Want to know what happens to your code after you write it, but before it runs on a device? 🤔 Check out Compiler Explorer → https://goo.gle/4d8sZKz Compiler Explorer is an interactive website for studying how compilers work. This year, support was added for the Java and Kotlin programming languages on Android. You can use Compiler Explorer to understand how your source code is translated to assembly language and how high-level programming language constructs in a language like Kotlin become low-level instructions. You can also experiment with and learn about compiler optimizations, compare Java and Kotlin code side-by-side, and see the impact of minification on your app. If you want to level up your Android development skills, Compiler Explorer is a great place to start.
