The 10th anniversary edition of our annual Women in the Workplace Report has arrived! For our 2024 report, we gathered data from 281 organizations, surveying more than 15,000 employees and 280 HR leaders to uncover the progress, setbacks, and challenges women currently face in the modern workplace. Notable findings include: → Women now hold 29% of C-suite positions, up from just 17% in 2015. → For every 100 men who received their first promotion to manager in 2024, 81 women were also promoted (compared to 79 in 2018) → At current rates, it would take 48 years for the representation of white women and women of color in senior leadership to reflect their share of the U.S. population. Chief information officers (CIOs), chief technology officers (CTOs), and chief digital and information officers (CDIOs) are now in charge of converting investments in artificial intelligence and other new technologies into value generators. The scope of these positions have expanded dramatically from years past, and many leaders are struggling to adapt and succeed in their roles. To help them with the transition, our partners have outlined four of the biggest shifts that leaders can make to thrive in this new era: https://mck.co/3XIeFCX #McKinseyDigital #TechLeadership #AI #GenerativeAI

Today marks the start of National Coding Week - an annual initiative focused on raising awareness and inspiring everyone to improve their digital literacy and coding abilities. As this week is about celebrating the significance of coding across the globe, we believe it’s essential to shine a light on the mother of modern computing - Ada Lovelace. Born in 1815, Ada Lovelace (Countess of Lovelace) was an English Mathematician and writer who is best known as the world’s first computer programmer. Her understanding of a machine’s ability to follow detailed instructions to perform complex calculations led to the first-ever computer program being developed for Charles Babbage’s conceptual ‘Analytical Engine.’ Ada’s groundbreaking contributions set the foundation for our digital world, and we hope her legacy will continue to inspire future generations of coders and digital innovators. #McKinseyDigital #NationalCodingWeek #Coding

Whether it’s ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or one of the many other platforms currently available, businesses have numerous options to consider. While these systems have similarities, they all differ in terms of customization, scalability, data privacy, security, regulatory compliance—all of which are critical for enterprise customers. Aidan Gomez, CEO and cofounder of Cohere, recently joined Ben Ellencweig, McKinsey Senior Partner and global leader of alliances and partnerships for QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey to discuss how his company’s platform differentiates from competitors, while also addressing the increasing need for data privacy and security measures in the AI era: https://mck.co/3TjyOhh #GenerativeAI #QuantumBlack #AIbyMcKinsey
