Folks, do you know where the first Russian steam-engine was built? It was in Barnaul, in Altai Krai.
The Altai mines were known all over the country. The massive Tsarina of Vases, was made here from jasper. The vase is so huge that a hole had to be made in the walls of the Hermitage in order to get it inside.
The beauty of Altai takes your breath away! The glaciers sparkle above the mountain meadows and the ancient pine forests twist like ribbons along the river banks. Wow! Visitors are drawn to this place.
The best wheat is grown, delicious cheese is made and honey with special medicinal qualities is gathered in this region.
Ancient Altai is not without good reason called the melting pot of nations. The Huns, Scythians, Mongols and Turkic peoples lived here. And today many nations consider Altai their native land.
Great, isnt it? People are different, but there is one country!

Folks, do you know where the first Russian Noble prize winner, physiologist Ivan Pavlov was born? It was in Ryazan, thats where.
Nowadays Ryazan is the very heart of Russia. But these lands used to be the outskirts, constantly ravaged by nomads. Once Ryazans residents even had to move the whole city to a safer place.
The fighting spirit here is so strong! Even nowadays all the countrys paratroopers are trained in Ryazan. And the founder of the armys main song and dance ensemble, the composer Alexandrov, who wrote the music for the Russian national anthem, was also born here.
But the warmest words about the motherland come from poet Sergey Yesenin. For him Ryazan, a dear land, is pensive, spreading all around.
Great isnt it! People are different, but there is one country!

Kaliningrad used to be called Königsberg, and the philosopher Immanuel Kant lived all his life here.
Kaliningrad Oblast is in the country's utmost west and doesnt even share a border with the rest of Russia.

Folks, do you know where the centre of Russia is? Its in Krasnoyarsk Krai, on Lake Vivi.
We all carry Krasnoyarsk around in our wallets. Theres an engraving showing the dam of the Krasnoyarsk Hydro Power Plant on the mighty Yenisei River on every 10-ruble note. Here you can also see the bridge, which was awarded with a golden medal in Paris along with the Eiffel Tower.
Krasnoyarsk Krai is boundless! The Tunguska meteorite disappeared here without a trace. But coal can be found here directly near the surface and manganese, semiprecious stones, nickel, gold are by thousands there.
Try to climb up the Krasnoyarsk pillars, these huge, fantastic rocks! Or grow the apricots and watermelons near Minusinsk, in the centre of Siberia! Can you beat that?! Youd need to be a stubborn Siberian to do that!
You see, people are different, but there is one country!
