Dominik Szoboszlai has been backed to put a difficult end to Liverpool's season behind him when he turns his attentions to this summer's European Championships.

Szoboszlai has started only one of Liverpool's last six Premier League matches with injury and loss of form meaning he has been either on the bench or in the stands for much of the second half of the campaign.

It's in stark contrast to the beginning of his Reds career having arrived for £60million from RB Leipzig last summer, with the midfielder having started 19 of the first 20 top-flight games before sustaining a hamstring problem.

Szoboszlai is likely to again be on the bench on Sunday when Jurgen Klopp's reign is brought to an end with the visit of Wolves, after which the 23-year-old will join up with the Hungary squad ahead of the Euros.

And his national team boss Marco Rossi believes the country will benefit from their skipper having had his minutes limited during the closing weeks of the season.

"Knowing him, he certainly won't be bothered by this situation," said Rossi, speaking to Hungarian news outlet M4Sport. "I think that he’s thinking that in the time that he’s not spending on the pitch with Liverpool will give him more power and more freshness for our matches. I hope for this.

“But I think that he’s already focused on what he would like to do and he will do (at the Euros) because in this moment, (against Aston Villa) he played 20 minutes so it was just a warm-up for him. Probably the next match will be the same.

"He’s already focused on the European Championship. He will arrive fresh and this is good overall for us. I think also that he will not suffer under the psychological aspect of this situation.”
