BNS 2024.05.22 11:46

The office of the Lithuanian government has launched a design contest for a joint Latvian-Lithuanian pavilion, called the Baltic Pavilion, at Expo 2025 to be held in Osaka Japan.

The contest is being organised in cooperation with the Latvian Investment and Development Agency, the government said on Wednesday.

“In the Baltic Pavilion, we want to show the uniqueness of our region and present Lithuania as an open country where significant solutions are born, transforming not only our lives but also the lives of people worldwide,” Government Chancellor Giedrė Balčytytė said in a press release.

“We are looking forward to receiving creative ideas that will help showcase this,” she added.

The deadline for submitting applications for the design and implementation of the pavilion is June 17.

The Baltic Pavilion will be housed in a 300-square-meter building constructed by the exhibition organisers, located next to the European Union Pavilion.

According to the government, the exhibition will feature a Lithuanian National Day on July 6 and a joint Lithuanian-Latvian project entitled Baltic Unity Day on August 23.

The international exhibition will be held in Osaka from April to October next year under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”.

The exhibition will involve 160 countries and nine international organisations and is expected to attract more than 28 million visitors.
