Description:

In the wake of the bepress/Elsevier acquisition, LYRASIS has provided a response on how one can provide a solution to the recurring problem of large commercial publishers acquiring open-access repositories in our latest blog post. In this free webinar, learn how Islandora, a full-fledged digital asset management (DAM) system, is one such open-source platform solution. Initially developed by the University of Prince Edward Island, today it has a growing, self-sustaining community with installations on five continents. It is governed by the Islandora Foundation, its Board of Directors, and two community committees. Community members, allocating their staff resources, develop the software.

We will discuss the functionality of Islandora and in particular, Island Scholar. We will hear from two community developers, Florida State University’s Devin Soper and Bryan Brown, LYRASIS’ Jonathan Green, who is the architect of Tuque and a part of the Islandora community since 2010, and John Herbert, Director of Technology Services and serves on the Islandora Foundation Board of Directors.
