LEIGH CAMPBELL: 'Can't find the right vitamin C serum? Here are 3 of the best.'

I love vitamin C as a skincare ingredient.

Well, I love it most of the time, but occasionally we have a fight.

Vitamin C applied topically to the skin helps boost collagen and fights off free radicals (the bad guys who are to blame for accelerating ageing) because it’s an antioxidant.

It's a fantastic ingredient, but a moody one, too. It's an active, so can sometimes cause redness, flaking, breakouts or general irritation.

I'm lucky in that I can tolerate most vitamin C products I trial, but I often hear from many women that they just can't find their Goldilocks of vitamin C skincare — it’s a common problem.

Well, all is not lost.

Erin interviewed the amazing dermatologist Dr Katherine Armour, and she doesn't rate vitamin C due to those aforementioned issues. In fact, she doesn't use it — she won't even touch it!

MIND. BLOWN.

I'm not about to ditch vitamin C, so wanted to share a couple of options that I believe are gentle and kind enough to the skin for most people to use.

CeraVe Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum, $43.99.

A pharmacy fave, this formula has ceramides and hyaluronic acid in there to help moisturise and support while vitamin C does its thing.

Go-To Much Brighter Vitamin C Serum, $59.

Go-To founder, Zoe Foster-Blake, wouldn't put her name (and face) to a product unless she thought it was excellent. Check out the reviews online — it’s a winner.

SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum, $242.

Yes, the price is exorbitant, and yes, I believe it’s as good as everyone says. The immediate glow is real.
