Healing Stories Tour, 1-5 p.m.

Healing Minnesota Stories is an effort to create understanding and healing between Native American and non-Native people, particularly those in various faith communities. Tours are led by Rev. Jim Bear Jacobs (Mohican) and Kelly Sherman Conroy (Oglala Lakota). The tours offer an opportunity to learn about Minnesota history from a Native perspective through story-telling and experiencing the sites in silence / meditation / reflection. The tour visits:

  • Mendota Heights, confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers
  • Fort Snelling State Park, site of a Dakota Internment Camp following the The Dakota-U.S. War
  • Pilot Knob Hill, a traditional burial ground.

For more information visit the Healing Stories website.

Beginning at 1 p.m., the tour lasts approximately four hours, is entirely outside. Meet at Church of St. Peter (1405 Sibley Memorial Highway, St. Paul, MN 55120). Ride sharing is encouraged. [The sites visited are reasonably accessible.]

The cost of the tour is $25 per person. This represents half the actual expense. The remainder is being subsidized through a Racial Justice grant from the Church and Society Team.
