Hollyoaks has confirmed a devastating death twist, with a fan favourite killed off in the latest episode of the Channel 4 soap.

This article contains spoilers from Tuesday's Channel 4 episode, which dropped on Tuesday evening and is set to air on E4 on Wednesday night. In the episode, the joy of Cindy Cunningham and Dave Chen-Williams' wedding was brought down with a tragic end.

After weeks of speculation over a possible death hitting their big day, viewers' fears were confirmed when a much-loved village resident suddenly died without warning after taking drugs. A number of residents faced danger after taking pills they had no idea were dodgy.

As the wedding party got underway, one character began to lose consciousness and collapsed, and she could not be saved. The character's devastated family watched on in shock as residents battled to save her but sadly the character passed away amid a cast cull on the Channel 4 soap.

Lizzie Chen-Williams died on her dad Dave's wedding day, seconds after dancing with him in a sweet moment. Their happiness turned to heartache, as Lizzie was killed by the dodgy pills that had been passed around by Dilly Harcourt, originally dealt by Warren Fox.

Dave and son Mason sobbed as Lizzie was declared dead at the club, as the wedding guests watched on in horror. But Lizzie wasn't the only one who took the pills - so could there be more tragedy on the way?

After all, it's been reported Hunter McQueen will sadly lose his life at some point this year. According to reports, actor Theo Graham has filmed his final episode after quitting last year.

A source told The Sun: "Theo knew when he returned in 2022 that he was only going to stay for a short stint. He made his decision a while ago and bosses were happy to come up with a fitting and final exit for him and Hunter.

"He’s definitely missed on set and he loved his time at Hollyoaks but he can’t wait to take on other roles again." As for Lizzie, viewers were heartbroken as they took to X to react to her unexpected demise.

One fan wrote: "WTF killing off Lizzie , she’s a brilliant character and could of done loads with her, absolutely gutted." Another agreed: "Holy s**t. Lizzie’s died!" as a third said: "THEY'VE F***ING KILLED LIZZIE OFF ARE YOU ACTUALLY JOKIN??!!!!"

A further comment read: "Devastated after #Hollyoaks today. Introducing the idea of Lizzie's child came at just the right time to make this as tragic and sudden as possible. Those last moments were so utterly traumatising. US soaps could never!"

With the soap set to jump a year into the future in September with there being three 20-minute episodes a week, instead of five, a number of cast and crew will leave their roles. Some of the stars have been axed while others have chosen to quit.

Among those leaving include Ross Adams, Jamie Lomas and Jamelia. Stephanie Waring also confirmed she was leaving after being axed as part of the cull. More exits are likely to air in the coming weeks and months.
