Committee for Strategic Research Projects

Committee for Strategic Research Projects is an advisory, initiative, and coordination body at Masaryk University. It focuses on the preparation and implementation of strategic research projects and the development of the research infrastructure at MU. The main objective of the body is to assess projects with higher risks and, where appropriate, subsequently monitor them. Regular members mainly include faculty representatives, the vice-rector for research, the vice-rector for development, the bursar, and representatives of higher education institutes.

Supporting Open Science

Masaryk University research infrastructures create an ecosystem enabling the implementation of Open Science principles in the Czech Republic and Europe. Open science requires the open sharing of technologies and expertise, but also of knowledge and data, enabling their further use and application in the public and private sectors.

Cutting-edge technology

Shared labs provide researchers and other users across disciplines access to unique technologies, research capacilities, samples, and data.

Interdisciplinary expertise

State-of-the-art equipment and unique capacities are operated by specially trained technicians and research teams, allowing the most efficient use of the shared laboratories.

Open Access

Research capacities are available not only to Masaryk University’s scientific teams but also to other national and international users from academia and private sectors.

Key documents and strategies

The ESFRI Roadmap is a key document for Europe. It includes the European research infrastructure projects and landmarks that have been identified as a priority for the development of the European Research Area. At the national level, the Roadmap of Large Research Infrastructures of the Czech Republic defines the so-called Large Research Infrastructures approved for funding from Czech public funds.

Database of infrastructures of the EDUC alliance

As member of the EDUC Alliance, Masaryk University contributes together with seven other universities in establishing a network of shared knowledge and academic values among universities from Western, Central, and Southern Europe. Within the alliance, there is a database of research infrastructures, where each member university provides access to infrastructures of various focuses for PhD students and young researchers from other partner institutions. Through this initiative, MU offers access to 24 research infrastructures. The total number of infrastructures in the database amounts to 130.
