In 2011, Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH) conducted a report on deep brain stimulation (DBS) for parkinson’s disease (PD) and provided a reference list of studies published between January 1, 2009 and August 19, 2011. The current report aims to summarize evidence regarding the clinical and cost-effectiveness, as well as guidelines for the use of DBS in the treatment of PD. This report is, therefore, an update and upgrade to the previous CADTH report on this topic and may help knowledge users with purchasing decisions of DBS devices as a therapeutic intervention for patients with PD.
