Online Information and Advice Sessions
We have a range of free online events that you can join. You'll be able to get lots of information, join discussions with other families, and ask questions to our experts.
As long as you have access to a computer, smartphone or tablet with an internet connection, you'll be able to join.
You don't need any previous experience of the topics covered in these events. You can join in as much or as little as you like. We'll send you everything you need to know to be able to join.
Places at these events are limited, so booking in advance is essential.
Exploring Deaf Identity
- Monday 17 June
- 7pm to 8pm
- Suitable for families with children ages 0 to 16 years
At this session, deaf presenters will tell you about what deaf identity means to them, along with their influences, successes and challenges. Plus, one of our family presenters will share their child’s journey with you.
Choosing a Primary school

During this session, you’ll learn some practical ways to support your child's wellbeing. Our expert will explain how to help build your child’s self-esteem through good communication.
Choosing the Right Childcare for my Child

Setting up Support for Your Child at Primary School
- Thursday 5 September
- 7pm to 8pm
- Suitable for families with deaf children ages 2 to 10 years
Find out how you can make sure your child’s needs are met at their school and what to do if they aren’t being met. We’ll share information about the Equality Act 2010 (England, Scotland and Wales), disability discrimination under SENDO in Northern Ireland, and making reasonable adjustments.
Understanding Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Wednesday 11 September
- 7pm to 8.30pm
- Suitable for families with deaf children ages 0 to 16 years
In this session, you’ll learn about special educational needs (SEN) support and EHCPs, what the difference is, and how to ask for an EHC needs assessment. Our advice and guidance officers will share top tips for getting an EHCP and explain how we can support you through the process.
