The icon corner is a very special part of an Orthodox Christian home. It is a "little church" where we are free of all earthly care just like when we go to Divine Liturgy on Sundays. We're encouraged to stand before our Icon corner and pray and meditate in the morning and in the evening or any time you are able to do so. Why Do We Use Incense in the Greek Orthodox Church
We find the use of incense as far back as the Old Testament, such as Psalm 141:2, “Let my prayer be set forth before you as incense; and the lifting up of my hands be as an evening sacrifice.”

When we are humble, we judge ourselves and not our neighbor. The spiritual fathers of the church teach us that we need to be hard on ourselves and easy on others. This is true humility; this is true repentance. We are invited to master this humility and repentance during Lent. - Archimandrite Vassilios Papavassiliou

In Defense of the Holy Fire. Deacon Giorgi Maximov
The miracle of the Holy Fire! Each year on Orthodox Holy Saturday, the Patriarch of Jerusalem enters the altar of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and "prays with tears for the sins of the people done in ignorance, raiding his hands on high, doing this three times; those around him do the same thing." A flame ignites in a niche by God's will. The Patriarch lights a candle from it, and the Deacons light additional candles from the Patriarchs. The fire is passed to all. Christ is Risen!
