President and Mrs. Carter appreciate the many gifts they have received from around the world. Since there is not enough space at The Carter Center to display all of them, a few of these items are made available through this special event to support the work of The Carter Center.

This necklace and pair of earrings for pierced ears was handcrafted by artists Carol and Jean-Pierre Hsu. In shades of red and different textures of anodized aluminum, the set is accented with sterling silver and additional colors in the centerpiece of the earrings. A black leather cord is used for the necklace which has an easy to fasten magnetic clasp. Carol and Jean-Pierr are from Berkeley Springs, W Va., and work together to create aerodynamic mobiles and eclectic, colorful jewelry.
In October 2011, The Carter Center monitored elections in the north African country of Tunisia. Mrs. Carter’s election monitoring badge from that mission is part of this collection. It is accompanied by a miniature cut-silver metal olive tree sculpture encased in a wooden shadowbox frame. The piece was a gift to Mrs. Carter from the Tunisian prime minister, Beji Caid Essebsi, and comes with a red storage box.
Camp David was the site of the famous meetings in September 1978 which resulted in the signing of the Camp David Accords. Offered here are a 21" by 15" photograph of Jimmy Carter, Menachem Begin, and Anwar Sadat, signed by President Carter; a collection of six glasses emblazoned with the Camp David insignia; and a set of Camp David playing cards from the President Kennedy era. You’ll also receive two laminated copies of President Carter’s handwritten notes from the Camp David meetings.

Cy Young award winners, former Atlanta Braves, and Hall of Famers Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and John Smoltz have all autographed this Rawlings baseball from the 2002 Major League Baseball season. The ball comes with a certificate of authenticity that has been signed by President Carter and Glen Serra, who was media relations manager for the Braves. The baseball is displayed in a solid wood sports memorabilia case shaped like home plate. It includes a wall bracket, glass door, and key lock.
Measuring 15 inches by 20 inches, each of the pictures was taken at a mosque in either Isfahan or Shiraz, Iran by photographer Gail Shore. Gail’s photography is centered on the traditions, rituals, and religions that enrich diverse cultures around the world. Her company, Cultural Jambalaya, is a nonprofit that celebrates various cultures by using international photography to promote understanding and respect for all people.
A handsome navy-blue case guards this wonderful modern collection of important Chinese papers. The three softcover manuscripts were a gift to the Carters from a professor at Renmin University, a public research university located in Beijing, China. The box holding the manuscripts is 13 inches by 9 ¼ inches by 2 ½ inches and has two small pegs that fit through loops to hold the case closed.

Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck are featured in two original animation cels from Walt Disney Productions. In the first from the 1952 animated short film titled “Pluto’s Christmas Tree,” Mickey, dressed in lumberjack attire, forcefully swings an ax sending bits of wood flying around him. The framed item measures 11 ¾" by 10". The cel with Donald Duck shows him dressed in his classic sailor suit (circa 1943-1945), and lying on his stomach. This image is displayed in an 11.5" by 9.5" frame.

On a visit to Nanjing, China, in 2012, President Carter was given this impressive silk textile. The background of the piece is gold embroidery and it is accented with green leaves and sewn red and pink peony flowers. “Nanjing Brocade Research Institute” is stitched in Chinese characters on the front of the textile that is presented in a lovely silk covered box. Framed, the piece measures 22 ⅜ inches by 22 ⅝ inches.

This is the last of a set of posters from the 1970s that reflect the cultural and political changes of China following the death of Chairman Mao. The poster measures 40 inches by 30 inches. It is framed and has a slogan that reads “There is strength in unity. We proletariat must struggle to oppose imperialism, especially hegemonic powers.” The poster was produced in April 1974, and is a first edition printed by the Shanghai People’s Publishing House.

After Alan B. Shepard Jr. became the first American to travel into space in 1961, he was awarded the NASA Distinguished Service Medal by President John F. Kennedy. This color photograph, taken on May 8, 1961, captures the meeting of the two 20th-century heroes. Shepard would go on to be the first astronaut promoted to rear admiral, and he was also awarded the Congressional Space Medal of Honor in 1978 by President Jimmy Carter. The photograph is signed by Shepard.

KENNEDY PORTRAIT WITH AUTOGRAPH AND LOCK OF HAIR In 1970, Jacqueline Kennedy selected Aaron Shikler to paint the official White House portraits of her and her late husband, President John. F Kennedy. Shikler's is the only official portrait of a president to be created after the subject's death, and he used photographs for reference. A copy of the portrait can now be yours! It is framed with Kennedy's autograph, taken from an archival letter, and a lock of his hair.
