Minted to circulation standard, the coin's reverse side beautifully showcases the historic Tyniec Abbey. The NBP highlights that this abbey, founded in 1044, is Poland's oldest surviving monastery, with its oldest sections dating back to the 11th and 12th centuries.

The Benedictine Abbey in Tyniec stands as a unique witness to the development of monasticism in Europe and the long and turbulent history of Poland: from the dawn of statehood, through its age of prosperity, the partitions, to its rebirth in the 20th century, NBP said.

Collectors can purchase this coin at any NBP district branch for its face value of PLN 5 (USD 1,3). The coin's mintage is capped at one million pieces.
