Abstract
The previous studies on the diversion pipe of pumped storage power stations (PSPS) primarily focused on numerical simulations of pulsating pressure propagation within the pipe and its inducing factors. However, there was a lack of field monitoring and analysis of measured data to support surface ambient vibration, resulting in insufficient credibility and practicality of the numerical results. Based on ambient monitoring and data analysis, this paper examines the factors contributing to the ambient vibration of the water diversion pipeline in Changlongshan (CLS) PSPS. It is concluded that: (1) The primary source of vibration originates from units operation-induced ambient vibrations; (2) Vibration during pumping conditions exceeds that during power generation conditions; (3) The ground measuring point's vibration acceleration primarily depends on the distance from the vibration source; (4) Different types of units have varying effects on water diversion pipeline vibrations.
