Mental Health Awareness Week

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and the theme this year is ‘Moments for Movement’.

We know that whilst our bodies and minds can be well equipped to deal with extra demands this term can feel stressful at times. Good sleep and self-care routines can be impacted and it can feel like there is no ‘spare time’ to relax.  However, it is even more important than ever to take care of your mental health and planning in small moments to get away from screens and phones. This can help you feel calm and “ground” you if you are feeling anxious, help refresh your brain and function better, in turn helping to save time.

  • Grab a cup of tea of coffee and chat with a friend
  • Keep up with any hobbies, or things that you love doing
  • Take a stroll around the beautiful Robinson Gardens or in nature further afield
  • Borrow the croquet set from porters lodge. The course is ready, set out on lawn outside the Wellbeing Centre, Thorney Creek House
  • Join weekly yoga with Annabelle Tuesday 530-630pm (outside weather permitting)
  • Come and hang out with Molly the Wellbeing dog on Thursdays

And don’t forget it’s ok to reach out if you need help

  • A friend or family member
  • Your DOS and Tutors
  • The college Wellbeing Team are always available
  • University Services such as UCS (University Counselling Services), who also run groups and workshops in person and online, a great resource to tap into.
