It was incredible the things that my aunt just seemed to know, all
based on very little information from me. She had been a practic-
ing astrologer to some pretty high end clientele for several
decades and really knew how to get to the heart of things just by
asking a few questions about when someone was born. Once I
gave her all of the info she said she needed to draft my guy’s

Aquarian men are brilliant creatures. You probably already know

Understanding the Basics

Aquarius is the 11th sign of the Zodiac and is referred to as being

the water bearer. This actually causes a lot of people to have the
misconception that Aquarius is a water sign, when in actuality
we’re talking about an Air sign. The whole Water bearer thing
comes from the idea that Aquarians share their wisdom and
knowledge with all of humanity and this will usher in a new era.
After all, the Aquarian mindset is all about forward movement and
improvement upon that which is old and no longer of use.

Each sign has certain things that we associate with it, Aquarius is
no different. Aquarius is ruled by Uranus and is a Fixed sign with
the element of Air. Aquarius’ season is winter, and as you might
imagine is closely linked to that amazing aqua blue color that can
remind us of both water and air. Each sign also has a part of the
body that it associates most closely with; for Aquarius this is the
lower body, the legs, calves, and circulatory system.

So what does all this tell you about your Aquarian man? Well, not
a whole lot just yet, unless you are already well versed in astrolo-

To get a general grasp of anyone’s horoscope and general astro-

logical disposition, we start with looking at where the Sun lies in

their chart. Now, there is a lot more to someone than just their
Sun sign, but this is essentially the driving force from where all
other astrological information is derived. Just as we look at the so-
lar system as being a heliocentric system of planets revolving
around the sun, your astrology chart takes this same precedent.
This term actually comes from the Greek terminology with “helios”
translating to “Sun.”

In astrology the placement of your natal Sun is an indication of

your conscious thoughts and your core personality. This is the
face that you show to the rest of the world. If you want to look at
in an a Freudian sense, the Sun is your Ego in the whole id and
ego theory. You’ll learn as we go through all of the aspects of an
astrology chart that there are, indeed, quite a lot of theoretical ref-
erences that are used and specific terminology that you will be-
come more familiar with as we move through this book.

Now, there is, as I have said, much more to your horoscope than
simply where the Sun is located. You may have your Sun in Gem-
ini but your Mercury (Gemini’s ruling planet) in another sign; we’ll
say an Earth sign. This will give you the duality of a Gemini Sun
on the surface, but a more earthy feel to how you communicate.
Think of the Sun as the foundation of who you are; it is the core of
your personality.

You may be wondering why I’m going into all the technical as-
pects of astrology just to find out how to attract an Aquarian. This
is because to be able to fully grasp the whole picture of your
Aquarian guy you must also be able to understand and kind of
decode the remainder of his personality. Think of the old adage of
not judging a book by its cover. Least of all the signs, you do not
want to simply think you understand an Aquarian personality

chart. Pay attention to this part, as we are building the basis for
how you will better grasp the whole of his personality and also
give you the tools to help you in using astrology to build and grow

The Natal Chart

Whenever you hear someone referring to having their chart done

or casting a natal chart, this is referring to a sort of cosmic snap-
shot of where the planets lie in relation to one another at the exact
time of their birth. To create an accurate natal chart we use the
date, time and location of your birth. Not everyone knows the ex-
act time of their birth, and that is ok. It isn’t preferable, but it is ok.
In the event that you cannot come up with the exact time of birth
we would simply create what is known as a solar chart, using your
Sun as the starting point.

All astrological charts are comprised of a 360 degree circle with

the 10 planets and the 12 houses of the Zodiac. You are thinking
“But there are only 9 planets…and is Pluto still a planet, even?”
Well, you are right, there are only 9 technical planets and for ar-
guments sake, I personally will always include Pluto. We say
there are 10 planets in an astrological chart because the Moon
also plays a very important role in the natal chart.

Getting a bit deeper into how a natal chart is created, you will see
that there are not only signs and planets, but also what we call
houses. Visualize a wheel inside of a wheel, a double wheel if you
will. Around the outer rim of your natal chart, or of your Aquarian
man’s chart, we see the signs, but inside of this we find the plan-
ets within the different houses.

The Planets show us the what, the signs that our planets fall into
show us the how and the houses of the chart show us the where.

Fixed, Cardinal and Mutable signs

As I mentioned earlier, your Aquarian man is one of what we call

the fixed signs. You know him to be one who isn’t easily shaken
from his point of views in life, a characteristic you’ll actually find in
all of the fixed signs. There are also mutable signs and cardinal
signs. They are all different, allowing for a sense of balance within
the Zodiac.

Your Aquarian man being a fixed Air sign will remain true to his
own sense of who he is. Some may even see him as being stub-
born, yet rather flippant in how he acts. Stability and loyalty are
just a couple of the characteristics of a fixed sign that you will find
in him, even though he may seem argumentative and standoffish
at times, at his core he will never falter in his loyalty to a friend or
to a cause without good reason.

The Air signs are all quite good at communicating with others and
are more cerebral than most. Aquarius is actually a sign that we
see to represent brilliance. Aquarius was once thought to be ruled
by Saturn, a very karmic and almost stodgy planet, yet unwaver-
ing in the personal belief system set in place by its influence. Now
we see that Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, mythologically speaking,
Saturn’s son.

Other “fixed” signs include Leo, Taurus and Scorpio. Fixed houses
refer to the 2nd, 5th, 8th and 11th, but we won’t go too much fur-
ther into this, as you don’t really need to get into the depths of un-
derstanding astrology to come to an understanding of your Aquar-
ius man. Just remember that in any given chart, the planets found

in these houses or signs will carry more “fixed” traits than if they
were in any of the cardinal or mutable signs or houses.

The fixed signs, although quite different at times, are all very
steadfast in their attainment of goals. Yes, the goals may be dif-
ferent, but the approach to reaching them will be much the same.
Persistency and an unwavering attitude of “I will do this” is found
in all of the fixed signs and none will be easily swayed in a differ-
ing direction than the course they have set upon. I bet you are
starting to see a glimmer of your Aquarian man in these descrip-

Understanding Aquarius, The Water Bearer

Now, some signs can be easily linked to the physical description

of their sign. For instance, Taurus, the bull, can be described as
being strong, stubborn and generally very “bull-like.” Leo the lion
can be described as being very lion-esk with the showy tenden-
cies of a lion strutting his stuff and demanding to be the center of
attention—Hence the loud roar of a lion commanding attention of
all who are within ear shot. Aquarian men are a bit different, in
that it isn’t as easy to describe him as being a water-bearer. Yes,
he has a huge humanitarian side and will always fight for the un-
derdog, but describing exactly what is a water bearer is not quite
as cut and dry as some of the other signs in the Zodiac.

The sign of the water bearer is a symbol of sharing knowledge

and hope for the future with the rest of humanity. If you think of
the water as being knowledge and wisdom, the water bearer is
pouring this out, sharing his knowledge with us all and hoping for
a better, brighter future.

Why is an Air sign made to look like a water sign? Well, because
this is the sign of humanity. Aquarians tend to be loners in the
sense that they are fiercely independent, however, you will rarely
find an Aquarian who hasn't got a darn good idea of just what it
would take to solve all the worlds problems. Idealistic and have I
mentioned brilliant? This is a general description of Aquarians and
it is pretty spot on.

The 11th house represents things like friendship, working togeth-

er, our biggest dreams and aspirations. This section of an astro-
logical chart shows how we exhibit our humanitarian effort and is
also an indication of forward movement through life and learning
new things.

The Age of Aquarius is thought to bring a new era of understand-
ing and a new way of thinking to us as a whole. Sure, we’ve all
heard the song from the 70’s, but what does it all mean? Well, the
references here are talking about the progressive, forward think-
ing of all those new-age types who revel in the “Age of Aquarius.”

The reason your Aquarian man is so into new-age things is that

this is kind of his MO. Aquarian men love anything that’s techno-
logically advanced or cutting edge. If you want to get on his good
side, show some interest in new technology and staying up to
date with things that are generally unique and interesting.

One huge thing to understand about your Aquarian man is that

any hint of wanting a full-on relationship is going to run him off.
Friendship is incredibly important to this guy and you will do well
to create a strong friendship basis before you ever consider trying

An Air Sign with a Uniquely Uranian Feel

In astrology each sign is linked with a specific element. These el-

ements are Air, Earth, Water, Fire, and sometimes Spirit. We are
really just focusing on the four basic elements, however, as Spirit
isn’t typically used in traditional astrology. The Air signs are Gem-
ini, Libra and Aquarius. Symbolically air and wind flows freely and
represents the more cerebral signs in astrology. It comes as no
surprise, then, that the Aquarian motto is “I know.”

You can’t talk about Air signs without thinking about the more in-
telligent signs of the Zodiac. This doesn’t necessarily mean that
Air signs are smarter than everyone else, but that naturally those
born under this element are natural communicators and operate
on a level that is more intuitive and intellectual. If you’ve ever
been in a relationship with an Air sign- you know that they are
largely the thinkers of the world and kind of live with their heads in
the sky. You’ll see these airy personalities easily go from one con-

Air signs cannot stand to be bored. Matter of fact, boredom is
something that Aquarians almost fear, right along with normalcy
and routine. This is where the Uranian twist comes in— Aquarius
is co-ruled by Uranus and Saturn, by history. Most recently as-
trologers relate Aquarius most closely with Uranus, the first “mod-
ern” planet to be discovered through a telescope. In mythology,
Uranus is akin to the ancient Greek sky god and ruler of the Uni-
verse.

Now, prior to the discovery of Uranus back in 1781, Saturn was

thought to be the ruling planet for Aquarius. The discovery of
Uranus, however, changed things up quite a bit. Saturn and

Capricorn Sun, however, the wisdom that comes along with an
Aquarian mind is strongly linked to the Saturn influence in their

With Uranus holding the highest position of influence over Aquari-

ans, we will focus primarily on this weird blue planet and how it
fits into the Aquarian equation.

Aquarius is thought of as being the most individualistic and eccen-

tric of all the Zodiac signs. This surely comes from its Uranian in-
fluence. In fact, Uranus is so different from all of the other planets
that it doesn’t even spin on a normal axis. If you imagine all of the
other planets to be tops spinning through the Universe, Uranus is
like a ball rolling on its side. Why? Well, astronomers think
Uranus’ strange rotation is due to a massive collision with another
planetary body billions of years ago which knocked this unique
planet onto its side. This cosmic collision gave Uranus an axial tilt
of 98 degrees, which means that seasons last for 42 years at a
time.

Uranus spends about 7 years in each sign as it moves through
the Zodiac, making a complete cycle through a chart take 84
years and 7 days, give or take a day or two.

All this considered, someone with a prominent Uranus placement

in their natal chart will have strong Aquarian qualities. Idealistic,
eccentric, brilliant and perhaps even a touch of genius added in
for good measure. One great example of this is Steve Jobs, for-
mer co-creator and founder of Apple—Although he had his Sun at
5 degrees Pisces, he had Uranus close to conjunction with Jupiter

In this section we’ll take a look into how you can begin to really
understand the inner workings of your Aquarius man. Whether

will likely come to a screeching halt.

Freedom is huge to the Aquarian man, and he will offer you the
same. You never have to worry about being smothered by him.
