Bridgerton season 3 may be over, but the hype isn’t. And the good news keeps coming. Earlier this week, the main character of season 4 was revealed and now, there’s a stylish new collaboration coming to the Ton.
In collaboration with Netflix and Shondaland, fashion brand Selkie is launching a Bridgerton-inspired capsule collection. While maintaining the puffy silhouettes, bright colors and whimsical aesthetic Selkie is known for, the line will also explore the Regency styling of the hit Netflix series with a modern twist.
Selkie’s press release revealed that the collection was driven by the shared values of “body positivity, inclusivity and empowerment” between the clothing brand and the series. Selkie founder Kimberly Gordon exclusively told Teen Vogue, "It is a dream to work with Bridgerton, having long admired Shonda Rhimes. She is transforming television as we know it. To see her modern take on the Regency-era is so much fun, and it is no surprise that it has amassed more fans than any other Netflix series. We share a passion for seeing diverse representations of women in the media, and the show demonstrates that people are eager to see change. How better to accomplish that than with this modern take on a period drama whose costumes have ignited a passionate fan base? As a young girl, I could not have imagined seeing such representation on television. It would have had a profound impact on my life, and I am confident that it will continue to do so for future generations. To be included in that conversation is one of the greatest honors I have had."
In the press release, Gordon also revealed that many of the design elements in the collection are inspired by the powerful female leads of the series. The “cheerful yellow floral” is inspired by Penelope Featherington, whose family is often seen in bright citrus hues. The eldest Bridgerton daughter Daphne is honored by a “playful pink and blue striped floral” as blue is her family’s signature color. Her younger sister Eloise, known for having a bold personality, is represented by a “luxurious, glittering green” fabric. Edwina Sharma, the diamond of season 2, inspired the “delicious pink and gold statement dress” with her “sweet sensibility.”
