Body found off Mumbles.

THE body of a man was recovered from the sea close to where a young man went missing after he had been drinking, coastguards said today. The man, thought to be in his early 20s, got into trouble in the water at high tide at the Mumbles in Swansea.

Swansea Coastguards received a 999 call from a member of the public at 8pm yesterday who reported seeing the man disappear underwater having been seen swimming close to the shore.

Two members of the public jumped in the water to try to locate the man but failed.

A rescue helicopter was scrambled, two lifeboats launched and a police helicopter made a thorough search of the shoreline. At 11.30pm last night, a man's body was recovered from the water by coastguard and police.
