Ecolean enters South America.

Dairy market leader Alquerla in Colombia has recently launched one of its milk products in Ecolean's Air Aseptic packaging solutions. Alquerla is also one of the first customers to introduce Ecolean's innovative re-closing device SnapQuick. The launch marks Ecolean's entry into South America and the Colombian market.

As one of Colombia's premier producers of dairy products, Alquerla has a proud history of being at the forefront of technological innovation. Alquerla has labelled the new Ecolean package 'Practijarra' (meaning the practical jug) to emphasize the convenience of the package.

The Colombian dairy and beverage market is one of South America's most dynamic markets, and it is expected to grow more than 15 percent in the next five years according to consumer market research company Canadean. With its nearly fifty million consumers, Colombia has the second largest population on the continent and is increasingly open to new products and packaging solutions.

Ecolean's new reclosing device SnapQuick has been awarded the Nordic Scanstar 2014.

The award recognises outstanding packaging products from all five Nordic countries.

According to the Scanstar Award Jury, SnapQuick is: "A smart, new closing feature for what already is a successful, award-winning packaging product.". Furthermore, the jury also stated: "The solution is functional, combined with minimal material consumption. Smart and simple--well done!".

The SnapQuick re-closing device is integrated into the package, without compromising the functionality. Once the package is opened it can be easily closed by just folding the top and giving it a light pinch. The re-closing device is made from PET and adds just 0.5g to the total package weight, which is substantially less compared to conventional re-closing devices such as screw caps.
