Ice Hockey: Tait tops the Devils' wanted list.

Byline: Terry Phillips

ASHLEY Tait, the former Nottingham Panthers centre, is still right near the top of Cardiff Devils' wanted list. Tait, who celebrated his 27th birthday this month, is considering a contract offer from the Devils and will make up his mind this week.

Toronto-born Tait counts as a British player under Findus British National League rules as he has trained in the United Kingdom since he was young and he would be a major signing.

The 6ft 1in, skilful forward would make a major impact in the FBNL.

Devils coach Glenn Mulvenna is working to recruit his team and currently has nine players who have agreed terms.

More will be added this week as Mulvenna works towards the two challenge matches of the new campaign, against Great Britain on Thursday, August 29, and London Knights on Sunday, September 1.

They then open their FBNL fixtures at Solihull on Saturday, September 8, before entertaining Basingstoke the next evening.

Players on board: Imports: Blair Scott(defence), Mike Ware (forward/defence), Jason Elders (forward), Brian Leitza (netminder).

British players: Jason Stone (defence), James Manson (defence), Jonathan Phillips (forward), Nathan Craze (netminder), Lee Cowmeadow (forward).
