Institute of Brewing Studies gears up for annual micro conference.

The Institute for Brewing Studies reports that it is gearing up for the annual Microbrewers and Pubbrewers Conference & Trade Show, to be held this year at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, TX, April 23-26, 1995.

The IBS is expecting 100 exhibitors and 1,200 attendees this year, up from 70 exhibitors and 1,150 attendees last year. The continued growth of the conference has dictated the choice of a convention center as the site, the IBS said.

David Edgar, director of the IBS, said that the group also felt that Texas was a good state to host the event, given the growth of microbrewing in the state (five micros and nine brewpubs already established, with more on the way). "Texas was the logical place for the 1995 conference and trade show," Edgar said. This year's conference will include 26 presentations, focusing on issues from distribution, safety in the brewhouse, marketing, sales and business operations. Ed McNally, president of the largest craft brewery in Canada, Big Rock, will be at the conference as a keynote speaker.
