Letter: Give the hospital cleaners a break.
Byline: Christine CrispI WAS very surprised by the letter written by Sheila Richard about the lack of hygiene on the wards of Cardiff Royal Infirmary West Wing. I worked as a housekeeper at CRI for 18 years and, after it closed, I went to west wing for one yearbefore I retired. The year I spent working on those wards was the hardest year in all my time as housekeeper.
People forget West Wing is very hard, cleaning wards with old people.
Whoever told this lady wards at the CRI were cleaned once a week must walk around with their eyes closed. Also, she should complain to the right people, the domestic supervisor or sister of that ward, instead of to the Echo.
What a pity people don't consider how much hard work it is keeping hospitals clean, instead of praising doctors and nurses all the time and not others in the health service who do a good job like the porters, cooks and cleaners.
It makes me very angry when I read letters like this as I know what hard work these girls do to keep the West Wing clean.
