Solids-Ejecting Centrifuge.
Alfa-Laval of Warminster, PA, has introduced Brew 300, a solids-ejecting centrifuge in the company's "Brewline." According to the company, the Brew 300 is designed for small to medium-sized capacities. For high flow rates, the company says it is a cost-effective preclarifier, and for low throughputs it can be used for the more solids-intensive duties such as green beer and wort clarification.
Brew 300 features Alfa-Laval's Dynaflow inlet, oxy-stop seal and self-triggering discharge. The company says that the new Dynaflow inlet "gently accelerates the liquid entering the centrifuge, thereby preventing sensitive flocks such as yeast and proteins from breaking up." The company says that the Oxy-Stop seal forms an air-tight seal in the centrifuge, using the centrifugal force of the rotating fluid to make a self-regulatory hydraulic seal, independent of the flow. Finally, the company says that the "self-triggering" design can minimize product losses and the flexible discharge system enables solids to be discharged at optimal dryness by physically sensing the levels of solids in the bowl. According to Alfa-Laval, "The system is hygenic and totally reliable."
Brew 300 is delivered as a complete ready-to-connect system mounted on a skid, which eases maintenance concerns, Alfa-Laval says. The company reports that the heart of the system is the self-triggering, self-cleaning separator. The control panel is based on microprocessor technology, and the company says that the advanced process valve module is designed to match the needs of a given brewery's process.
Alfa-Laval reports that it now has 14 regional brewery centers throughout the world, with the North American headquarters based in Warminster, PA.
