Val Blatz closes.
Val Blatz closesThe G. Heileman Brewing Co. announced the recent closure of its Val Blatz microbrewery in Milwaukee.
Bill Eyler, spokesman, G. Heileman, said the brewery was "operating at levels far below capacity," forcing the closure. Eyler added that the brewery, which had forcast a staff of 50-100 workers when it opened in 1986, employed only three workers at the closing of the brewery.
Another point where the brewery fell short of expectations was in production. Val Blatz forecast the production capacity of 300,000 half-barrels by 1988 but best estimates indicated only half that number, according to Val Blatz.
