A one-year-old girl who died after being hit by a car in a church car park has been named by her family who say they are “absolutely devastated” to have lost their “beautiful daughter”.

Ivy Mae Ross, from Whitecairns, was hit by a Land Rover outside the Plymouth Brethren meeting hall in Balmedie, Aberdeenshire. She was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but was pronounced dead shortly after.

The 40-year-old man who was driving the vehicle at about 7.45pm on Wednesday was uninjured. Police have asked residents whose homes overlook the car park to come forward with any CCTV footage, The Telegraph has reported.
